In 1856 20-year-old Thomas Burberry founded the British house Burberry by opening a store in Hampshire. The business of this brand focused on clothing for the outdoors and in 1880 he invented the raincoat. The print of his classic raincoat, called Haymarket, is world-renowned. An interesting fact is that both Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales have granted Burberry the title of Royal Provider. Throughout the twentieth century the brand was expanding, it no longer only included luxury items, it started to market accessories and perfumes for men and perfumes for women Burberry.
